Meet "The Founder & The Woman" Behind Divine Affekt!

🌱 The Origin Story

Interviewer: Take us back to that moment in 2009. What was going through your mind when you wrote your vision down on that napkin?
Founder: As far as I remember, I started examining my life for what it was. I was learning about “Faith”, “Hope”, "Passion and Purpose”. I would hear stories of others successes, and started to grow a desire to BELIEVE for me and my familia. We were all made with PURPOSE, and I desired to find mine, and be an example to my children and generations to come. As I was in the break room, the Lord started speaking to me. Now all I had to do was to start executing what He spoke.

Interviewer: Why did you choose the name "Divine Affekt," and what does it represent to you?
Founder: I knew that it couldn’t be just about money. So God gave me this name which is: Divine meaning “Godly" or “of God” and “Affekt” which is to make a change to or influence. I wanted to be as impactful as I could!

Interviewer: At that time, did you ever imagine Divine Affekt would grow into what it is today?
Founder: Initially I didn’t dream or even think of this journey leading us to a brand when it started. I’m still kinda amazed on where it’s headed.

Interviewer: As his wife, what was it like watching this vision go from an idea to a reality?
Wife: I won’t lie I was kind of confused at times. I understood the vision but not the process. Starting as a T-shirt business, and then converting to a brand was challenging.

💡 The Challenges & Mindset

Interviewer: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while building Divine Affekt?
Founder: The lack of mentorship in building a brand was definitely a challenge that delayed the development and growth. Life issues as well here and there. You never know what will happen. When you go in with a plan sometimes God has a different one.

Interviewer: How did faith and perseverance play a role in your journey?
Founder: My “Faith” in God has been my primary source of personal inspiration. Knowing that God has given us a purpose and opportunity to make a difference, drives me to persevere. This is what God made me to do, and as long as this heart is beating I’ll always run to my calling.

Interviewer: What sacrifices did you have to make in those early days to turn this vision into a reality?
Founder: I took what I needed from our lifestyle, and invested it in our movement. Yes, sometimes it made things more tough as home for the whole family, but everyone supported us in whatever way they could even if it was only with their presence or words.

Interviewer: As his wife, how did you support him through these challenges, and what kept you both going?
Wife: Prayer and encouragement. We are still moving, and believing because of our relationship with God. Without God I will say I don’t know where we’d be, but with God we are here standing strong together!

🚀 Growth & Impact

Interviewer: Divine Affekt has funded dreams, impacted communities, and changed lives. What was the moment you realized it was truly making an impact?
Founder: Although, it’s true we are nowhere near where we would like to be. We definitely aren’t where we used to be. When I started seeing people wearing our apparel I realized… this is bigger than just us. That’s why we have to keep pushing, and growing. Our “impact” no matter how big or small is worth it. One life can change the world.

Interviewer: How has this journey changed your life and the life of your family?
Founder: The short and sweet answer is it caused me to believe in something I never thought possible. I used to ask my kids “Why not you?”. Why can’t you be the change? Why can’t you be successful? Eventually I had to ask myself “Why not me?”. That’s when belief took over, and God could do what He needed to do through me and my wife.

Interviewer: What has been the most rewarding part of this experience for you personally?
Founder: Being able to create designs with a story. Something more meaningful than just a piece of clothing. I want people to wear a message, and believe what they wear. Sometimes someone just passing by can use the message on your shirt. I want that message to have the power to change their day, or even their life.

Interviewer: How has Divine Affekt impacted your family from your perspective as a wife?
Wife: It has impacted my family in helping them “dream and seek purpose” for their lives. I’ve always prayed to God that no matter what He has in store for my family that they would embrace it, and embrace Him. With God all things are possible!

🌍 The Future & Legacy

Interviewer: Now that Divine Affekt is going online, how do you see its mission expanding?
Founder: The mission stays the same, but at a greater level to make a greater impact. The time is now.

Interviewer: What do you hope people take away from Divine Affekt when they come across the brand?
Founder: I pray “message over messenger” meaning “the story” over “the name”. I would rather God be glorified than “Divine Affekt”. I know that sounds a little preachy, but in all honesty it’s the truth.

Interviewer: If you could go back, and tell your younger self something at the beginning of this journey, what would it be?
Founder: I would say “Find a mentor to help you.”. Someone who is where you wanna be. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel when other people have been making them for centuries. Learn how to build the wheel yourself, and if there’s something in the process you don’t like then change it. You have the power to change it. You have the power to be “the first”. When you try to do it alone more often than not you submit yourself to being “the last”.

Interviewer: What do you envision for the future of Divine Affekt? Where do you see it in the next 5-10 years?
Founder: I see it becoming more and more noticeable. Having a strong social media presence and community involvement are definitely at the front of our goals. This brand is meant to impact, and I’m not sure what scale that’ll be on, but I am sure of one thing. God will take “Divine Affekt” wherever he must. I trust Him, and I believe in Him. Our path was laid out long ago. Now all we have to do is walk it!

Interviewer: As his wife, how do you see yourself contributing to the brand’s future?
Wife: By starting to learn about every aspect of the brand, and helping it grow into what it is meant to become. Yes, a lot of things are new to me, and they hurt my brain! But God has positioned me right here alongside my husband to help him chase his calling. Until God sends me elsewhere I’m devoted to growing this movement. I am ready to see just how far God will take us!

So many live life without ever “seeking purpose”. So my message is: “Seek purpose, equip yourself, stand strong, stay real, and be “AFFEKTIVE” with the only life God gave you. Only you were meant to live it.
